What Lead Sunshine to Create This Website:
During my journey to find more resources and guidance to help my loved ones with their mental health, I found myself continuously running into the issue of not finding activities or actions they could take at that present moment to help themselves. They wanted to help themselves right then and there but they did not know where to start.
In my research the action that was recommended the most was to seek a therapist or counselor. Although therapy is a wonderful first step to help one’s self improve their mental well being, especially since its guidance is tapered to one’s situation, it is not always the most accessible or available thing to do, especially during times of crisis.
Through research and talking with many people from friends, family, and professionals, I was able to gather a great list of activities and resources one can turn to, to use during different times and situations.
This website is my attempt to put together actions and tools to help those who do not have access to seek professional help at this moment. As I put together this website, I have recognized that not all mindful practices and activities will work for everyone; therefore, I hope by having a variety of resources this will help one find something that works for them.
During the creation of this website I continuously ran into the difficulty of finding resources that could be easily accessible and easy to navigate. Therefore, I hope by sharing my knowledge through this website it will take some work off of one’s shoulders because how could one who is struggling and barely have motivation to help themself do this research on their own and then actually get the motivation to do these things? This question is what led me to create a website because I wanted a specific place where people could go that would be easy to navigate and use to seek some sort of help for the present moment and future moment to come.
