As a matter of fact, it runs about 35% of the internet. \u00a0What that means for you, is that if you can’t figure something out, a simple Google search will yield tons of resources. \u00a0That said, we are here to help you if you need it. \u00a0Just reach out via email (disrael@bowdoin.edu).<\/p>\n

Editing a PAGE in WordPress is very much like editing a page in Word. You will have lots of formatting options.<\/p>\n

This is a PAGE<\/strong> that you will EDIT<\/strong> (via links above or below) for your project.<\/p>\n

There is also the option to use POSTS in WordPress, but that is not something that you will need.<\/p>\n

Images<\/h4>\n

To add an image, when you are in the editing interface you ADD MEDIA<\/strong> and follow the steps to upload.<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Before you upload, size your image to reasonably fit on the screen (and no more than 600 pixels tall @ 72dpi)<\/li>\n
  • Name the image something LOGICAL<\/strong> i.e. big-polar-bear.jpg<\/span> \u00a0 NOT<\/strong> IMG_1234.JPG<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Drag or upload<\/li>\n
  • BE SURE TO PUT IN THE “ALT” TEXT<\/li>\n
  • Insert it into the page<\/li>\n
  • If you want the image to expand to fill the screen when a user clicks on it, be sure to “link to media file”<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Any time you finish editing a page click the blue UPDATE<\/strong> button to save\"update\"<\/a><\/p>\n

    WordPress will save all the revisions of your work, so it is pretty difficult to lose anything, and easy to go back.<\/p>\n

    How to Do a Footnote<\/h4>\n

    To create a footnote you will go into the TEXT<\/strong> view and use the simple HTML superscript tag<\/a> on the number, then put the reference at the bottom of the page
    \nExample of how it looks in the TEXT<\/strong> view:

    \nIn the VISUAL<\/strong> view, it will look like this:
