Deana Lawson

Deana Lawson is a contemporary photographer from New York whose work explores representations of Blackness in its many forms. Through meticulous attention to her models’ pose and the composition of the photograph, Lawson’s work imbues her subjects – especially Black women – with agency and beauty that they have historically been denied.
