Email Lisa Flanagan if interested at lflanag2@bowdoin.edu<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Group 1 begins on Tuesday, January 28th<\/sup> at 1:00 p.m. in Magee’s pub<\/p>\n\n\n\n Group 2 begins on Friday, January 31st<\/sup> at 1:00 p.m. in Magee’s pub<\/p>\n\n\n\n Please join us this semester for a reading group on John Bean and Dan Melzer\u2019s Engaging Ideas: The Professor\u2019s Guide to Integrating Writing, Critical Thinking, and Active Learning in the Classroom.<\/em> Bean and Melzer\u2019s book provides the best guidance I have seen on how to foster critical thinking through well-designed and sequenced writing assignments. The authors also provide a wealth of practical information about how to grade and comment on student writing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We will meet twice a month for an hour beginning in early February and continuing through the end of the semester (skipping the spring break weeks).
