Data can be listed.<\/i><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Total public school student population<\/li>\n<li>Total state public education budget<\/li>\n<li>Public v. private school attendance<\/li>\n<li>Average per pupil expenditure<\/li>\n<li>High\/low per pupil expenditure within state<\/li>\n<li>Average national per pupil expenditure<\/li>\n<li>Student demographics (race\/ethnicity, English Language Learners, poverty rates<\/li>\n<li>Graduation rates (total, and by demographics)<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Accountability measures (testing, portfolios, growth, etc.)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Subject matter assessed by accountability measures<\/li>\n<li>Consequences for failing to meet standards\u2014for students, teachers, administrators, and schools<\/li>\n<li>Testing or proficiency graduation requirements<\/li>\n<li>Adoption of Common Core<\/li>\n<li>Adoption of Next Generation Science Standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Number of charter schools and percentage of students served (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Voucher dollar amounts and percentage of students served (if applicable)<\/li>\n<li>Permissible voucher use (i.e., religious schools)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Average teacher salary<\/li>\n<li>Presence of teachers unions\/collective bargaining (e.g., AFT\/NEA)<\/li>\n<li>Merit pay for teachers (in state or district)<\/li>\n<li>Teacher evaluation methods and measures<b> <\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Data Analysis:<\/h3>\n<p><i>In two to three paragraphs, address the following questions:<\/i><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li>Based on the data you\u2019ve collected, why do inequities persist in your state?<\/li>\n<li>What evidence did you see of the state addressing or overcoming inequities?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><i>In two to three paragraphs:<\/i><\/p>\n<p>\u00b7         Describe and analyze one particular trend or education-specific event in your state<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7         Make sure to contextualize this trend or event within the big picture you\u2019ve created from your data analysis.<\/p>\n<p><i> <\/i><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Learning Objectives Students will gain a deeper understanding of contemporary policy debates by applying and transferring basic knowledge developed as a whole class to a unique case.
