@Jessedhagopian: Jesse Hagopian is an educator, activist, editor and author. Some of the literature he contributed included More Than a Score: The New Uprising Against High-Stakes Testing as well as the magazine, Rethinking Schools. He has been awarded the Abe Keller Foundation award for “excellence and innovation in peace education,” plus the Secondary School Teacher of the Year and the Special Achievement award for his leadership qualities. He is one of the leaders of MAP, whose mission is to boycott testing in Seattle, Washington, particularly in Garfield High School where he teaches. He uses Twitter to discuss his opposition of testing in schools and his work with MAP.10 &11

@TINTofPBC: The person who established Testing is not Teaching is a mother and educational activist in Palm Beach, Florida. She uses Twitter to discuss high-stakes testing, reforms and relevant policies.12

@BAT_teacher: This account is called “I ❤ to teach” and was created by a parent. Her tweets and blog pertain to the public education system and the eradication of high-stakes testing as well as to educate people on current educational issues through retweeting.13

@FairTestOffice: The Fair Test – The National Center for Fair and Open Testing, is located in Massachusetts. It is working to stop high-stakes testing in the belief that they are unfair to students; misinform the public, do not improve student education; cause an increased likelihood that students will drop out; force teachers to teach to the test; and discourage qualified teachers from striving to become professors. This social media outlet is recommending books pertaining to opposition of high-stakes testing, and educating people on the topic and encouraging them to resist the test.14&15

@DEY_Project: This organization, known as Defending the Early Years, is based in Boston, Massachusetts, and brings educators together to advocate for policies that will impact the education of children. The group’s Twitter page encourages followers to stop high-stakes testing and become more educated on the topic of testing.16

Facebook: The Oklahoma Coalition Against High-Stakes Testing consists of parents, educators and members of the community who are concerned with the negative effects on children of high-stakes testing. This page posts news articles pertaining to testing and educational policies.17

FacebookOklahoma coalition: The social media page, Parents and Kids Against Standardized Testing, was established to educate parents, children and community members on the dependence that has been placed on high-stakes testing when making decisions about education. The page posts articles, videos and informational depictions pertaining to testing.18

Diane

Blog: Diane Ravitch is a historian of education and a professor at New York University. The topics addressed in her posts include charter and Catholic schools, education reform, and the National Council on Teacher Quality. One of her more recent posts interviewed textbook and curriculum designer Bob Shepherd, who discussed testing and his opinion that it is both meaningless and useless.19 & 24
