Ed Act Now<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Screen<\/a>Ed Act Now<\/a> is a blog site demanding that the Education Department hold colleges accountable for sexual assault and properly protect their students. They demand 1. timely investigations 2. proactive compliance measures 3. resolution reforms \u00a0and 4. further education and guidance. They seek to demand that colleges enforce and protect the rights granted to students under title IX.1<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Girls for Gender Equity<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenGirls for Gender Equity<\/a> is based in Brooklyn and seeks, through intergenerational grassroots efforts, to advocate for the development (physical, psychological, social and economic) of girls and women. Through the use of Title IX they work toward change in the support networks that shape the development of girls. Furthermore, they aim to create opportunities by working with communities and employing programs and projects to destroy barriers that limit girls and women.2<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

Southern Connecticut State University Speaks<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenSouthern Connecticut State University Speaks<\/a>\u00a0is a student group formed at Southern Connecticut State university in response to the school’s inaction regarding\u00a0Professor David Chevan’s sexual assault of a student in 2011. They seek to bring about changes in the school’s policy regarding sexual assault and amending the reporting procedures. They not only work to bring justice for the student assaulted but put in place measures to protect students from further assault.3<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Know Your IX<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenKnow Your IX<\/a>\u00a0is a sexual assault survivor and student run initiative to end sexual assault on college campuses. They work by starting campus chapters that advocate for administrative reform through the use of support programs, educating students about their rights under Title IX, and promoting further activism on college campuses.4<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Incite!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenIncite!<\/a>\u00a0is made up of grassroots chapters and other advocates across the U.S working to stop violence against women of color through the use of political projects. Incite! works with communities “to\u00a0develop political projects that address the multiple forms of violence women of color experience in our lives, on our bodies, and in our communities.”5<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

NOW Cincinnati Chapter<\/p>\n

\"ScreenNational Organization for Women: Cincinnati Chapter<\/a>\u00a0is a Cincinnati chapter of the National Organization for Women (NOW). They are a grassroots organization made up of local men and women in support of women’s rights. Furthermore, they work to eliminate discrimination, including sexual assault and Title IX violations, in many institutions including public universities in Cincinnati. They are both a forum for educators, activists, and community members as well as a source of “actions” such as protests and walks against sexual assault.6<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n

Fed Up Burlington<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenFed Up Burlington<\/a>\u00a0is a Burlington based grassroots organization that fights for women’s reproductive rights, to end sexual violence, and for economic equality. They work to educate their community on how to go about achieving equality and protecting women. While they are devoted to women’s rights specifically in Burlington, they also emphasize the importance of advocating for women all over the worlds for “as long as women are oppressed anywhere in the world, no woman is truly free.”7<\/a><\/sup><\/p>\n

SAFER<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"ScreenSAFER<\/a>\u00a0is a student lead action that fights sexual assault by creating campaigns to reform colleges’ policies regarding sexual assault. They believe that sexual assault is highly influenced by forms of oppression such as racism and sexism and thus, “work through a broader anti-oppression lens.” They utilize community mobilization to put policies forth that protect students from assault and ensure their rights under Title IX.8<\/sup><\/a><\/p>\n
