Ohio Coalition to Eliminate the School to Prison Pipeline<\/strong>
\nThe Ohio Coalition is an alliance that is determined to end the school-to-prison pipeline and is primarily focused on eliminating\u00a0zero tolerance policies that exist in many schools. They are currently supporting Senator Tavares\u2019 proposed bill to the\u00a0\"1393678_252016844947697_1599997869_n\"Senate which challenges the existing zero tolerance law and instead suggests more reasonable, less extreme discipline policies. Their facebook page highlights a variety of racial injustices that exist in the education system but particularly emphasizes the issues contributing to the school-to-prison
\npipeline. 19<\/sup><\/p>\n

Lansing School to Prison \"1375057_191523611035850_1853190353_n\"Pipeline Committee<\/strong>
\nThis committee is working to end the school-to-prison pipeline by targeting the zero tolerance policies that are implemented by so many schools. Their facebook page highlights the ways in which youth are unfairly disciplined and the negative consequences of such actions. It also introduces restorative practices and addresses how these are much more effective means of discipline. 20<\/sup><\/p>\n

Urban Youth Justice\"10251901_658003227570136_6868319667921589322_n\"<\/strong>
\nThis non-profit organization targets a variety of inequalities that affect urban youth, particularly youth of color, low-income, special needs, etc. The group is involved with an extensive range of youth injustices but incorporates a significant focus on education reform and underscores issues such as the school-to-prison pipeline and educational inequalities in general. 21<\/sup><\/p>\n

The Advancement Project (DC)<\/strong>
\nThe Advancement Project is a civil rights organization that targets an extensive list of societal injustices. One of these \"473388_424393777581634_269473018_o\"programs entitled \u201cEnding the Schoolhouse to Jailhouse Track\u201d is directly related to the school-to-prison pipeline and advocates\u00a0for the millions of students who are suspended annually, many of whom do not deserve such harsh discipline. The Advancement Project facebook page highlights a range of civil rights issues that extend beyond those of education. 22<\/sup><\/p>\n

Power U Youth
\n<\/strong>This is an organization located in the Miami-Dade County of Florida which is attempting to address the racially unjust and overly harsh discipline practices that exist in their local schools. They are introducing restorative justice practices as a way to reduce the administration\u2019s reliance on suspensions and criminal punishment. 23<\/sup><\/p>\n

@Redpipil<\/strong>
\nManuel Criollo is an individual who is passionate about social justice issues, particularly those that affect individuals of color. He works with the Strategy Center \"LJe4yYjd\"and the Community Rights Campaign and is very vocal about ending the school-to-prison pipeline. One of his more recent tweets suggests that by\u00a0introducing ethnic studies into the classroom (i.e. exploring various racial identities in an attempt to expand racial tolerance) the school-to-prison pipeline may be reduced. 24<\/sup><\/p>\n

@StopSTPP\"NC_ActionCamp_Poster\"<\/strong>
\nThis twitter feed is a discussion about the variety of school policies that lead to\u00a0the\u00a0criminalization and incarceration of youth. It highlights a variety of incidents in\u00a0which youth are punished harshly and often criminally charged for very minor misdemeanors. 25<\/sup><\/p>\n

@projectnia<\/strong>
\nThis twitter feed highlights the work of a Chicago organization known as Project NIA that challenges the ways in which our society handle\"91_ZedEP\"s youth discipline through incarceration. It attempts to spread awareness about unjust disciplinary action that\u00a0is administered to students, often very young students, and helps create a place for students to share their stories about how unfair discipline policies have affected them directly. 26<\/sup><\/p>\n

@YouthJusticeLA<\/strong>
\nThis organization referred to as the Youth Justice Coalition is a movement that is challenging the inequalities that exist within the juvenile justice sy\"so7nif2yyn25i3yzwgu5_400x400.gif\"stem in LA County and led by youth in Los Angeles.
