Organization founded by Newark students as a way of protecting student rights, ensuring quality education, and empowering students in the political process. Currently fighting against Cami Anderson’s One Newark plan.<\/p>\n

Parents Unified for Local School Education\"pulsePic\"<\/a><\/p>\n

PULSENJ is parent-led and organization that trains and mobilizes parents. By organizing parents, the organization allows communities to be more involved in the decision making process of their educational systems.<\/p>\n

\n

\"saveOurSchoolsNJ\"Save Our Schools NJ<\/a><\/p>\n

Save Our Schools NJ began as a small group of parents joining together to pass a local school budget. It has since then remained involved in education both at the local and state level, keeping individuals informed about issues that affect their local schools.<\/p>\n

\n

New Jersey Communities United<\/a>\"NJCommunitiesUnitedPic\"<\/p>\n

NJCU aims to give a voice to communities of low and moderate incomes, communities of color, and immigrant Americans. NJCU is involved in with education but also tackles problems regarding health, the economy, environment, and more.<\/p>\n

\n

New Jersey Working Families\"NJWFAPic\"<\/a><\/p>\n

NJWF mobilizes working families to fight for economic and social justice. NJWF aims to improve public schools but also deals with issues regarding healthcare, climate change, minimum wage and more. They openly oppose Governor Christie and have called for his resignation.<\/p>\n

\n

American Civil Liberties Union of New Jersey\"ACLUNJPic\"<\/a><\/p>\n

ACLU of NJ is involved in litigation and advocacy on behalf of individuals. ACLU is located in Newark. It deals with many issues including education, police practices, religious freedom and more.<\/p>\n

\n

The Journey for Justice Alliance<\/a>\"J4JAPic\"<\/p>\n

Journey for Justice stands against school closings because it results in students being displaced and families losing access to neighborhood schools. Because school closings disproportionately\u00a0impact African American and Latino students, schools and communities, Journey for Justice demands the Department investigate the racial impact of school closings in their cities.<\/p>\n

\n

New Jersey Teacher Activist Group<\/a>\"NJTAGPic\"<\/p>\n

TAG believes that local communities and those affected by school reform should be looked to for the wisdom and knowledge to transform their local schools.There should be mutual responsibility and accountability among educators, families, youth, and communities. This process must secure the voice, participation and self-determination of communities and individuals who have been historically marginalized.<\/p>\n
