Image source: Generocity Philly<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">I will be focusing on the Philadelphia Student Union (PSU), an organization that centers students\u2019 voices in conversations about education justice and anti-racism. PSU has multiple goals related to educational equity, but its social media channels have been primarily focused on the movement for police-free schools since George Floyd\u2019s murder and on COVID-19 safety since discussions began about whether the School District of Philadelphia would open for in-person instruction in the fall of 2020. With Black people disproportionately likely to be <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2019-08-06\/race-and-police-shootings-what-new-research-says\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">victims of police brutality<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> and all racial and ethnic minorities at <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/community\/health-equity\/race-ethnicity.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">increased risk<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> for serious illness and death as a result of COVID-19, these issues are both key components of racial justice work in 2020.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I will be focusing on the Philadelphia Student Union (PSU), an organization that centers students\u2019 voices in conversations about education justice and anti-racism.
