Overall, this question sparked the most expensive campaign for a state ballot in Massachusetts history. The pro charter side received millions of dollars in donations from a handful of massive organizations, some of which have no legal obligation to reveal their contributors. The anti charter side, however was funded by thousands of teacher union donations. Additionally, he serves as the chair of the Campaign to Save Our Public Schools.\u00a0In his support of equal education for all students, he wrote an op ed expressing the consequences of charter schools in MA. In it, he\u00a0explains that charter schools take much needed funding from already existing public schools within that district.
