Inquilinos Boricuas en Acci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/a> was originally started in Boston\u2019s South End to address displacement of low-income families. Today, IBA offers a variety of programs, including an Afterschool and Summer Learning Program, which serves ELL students in the first and second grades with an emphasis on parental engagement in student learning.<\/p>\n

La Alianza Hispana<\/a><\/strong> provides both health and education services to the Greater Boston Latino community. The organization offers a range of English classes to community members, taking a strengths-based approach to education. In addition, strong family support services, including a Parent Mentoring Program, provide immigrant parents, who are adjusting to cultural differences, the tools to support and advocate for their children.<\/p>\n

Sociedad Latina<\/a><\/strong> offers a range of education and social services in order to empower Boston Latino youth and their families. Their Academy for Latinos Achieving Success Program, for example, focuses on improving academic achievement and college access for ELL students. To complement these efforts, the organization implements a parent engagement curriculum, Padres Comprometidos, to help parents build the skills to confidently connect with schools, viewing their cultural differences as assets.<\/p>\n

East Boston Ecumenical Community Council<\/a><\/strong> supports the Latino immigrant community of East Boston with community organizing initiatives, legal services, and education and youth development programs. The organization supports both children and their parents, offering adult English classes, along with free childcare that engages children in academic enrichment activities. As part of its mission to empower Latino immigrants to be productive citizens, EBECC\u2019s bilingual staff works alongside parents, teaching them the skills necessary to successful school interaction so that they can better advocate for their children.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
