Chicago Area Project (CAP)<\/a><\/p>\n

CAP works to prevent \u201cjuvenile delinquency\u201d and to improve local communities by creating and supporting community self-help efforts by empowering communities to support youth and hold\u00a0institutions accountable. Programs range from academic enrichment, to adult education, to juvenile justice, to mentoring. CAP is a far-reaching organization that supports the community in a plethora of ways.<\/span><\/p>\n

An organization run through the Greater Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church that works to prevent violence and build community connections within the Washington Park Area. They run a variety of programs for the commu<\/span>nity, including Dear Momma (a program for single mothers raising<\/span>\u00a0boys)\u00a0<\/span>a<\/span>nd ThugLife & Real Lif<\/span>e (a program for getting out of gangs).<\/span><\/p>\n

Originally founded as Chicago Citizens for Cha<\/span>nge by a mother after the loss of her son to a shooti<\/span>ng, Ch<\/span>ic<\/span>ago Survivors works to provide\u00a0<\/span>services and care to families who experience homicide\u00a0<\/span>loss. The organization provides a variety of free s<\/span>ervices to survivors, and focuses on victim’s rights\u00a0and\u00a0family-based solutions.<\/span><\/p>\n

E<\/a>nlace Chicago<\/a>, Violence P<\/a>revention<\/a><\/p>\n

Violence prevention is a subset of the ov<\/span>erall mission of Enlace Chicago, however, there are many programs\u00a0<\/span>withi<\/span>n the organization devoted to the mission. Programs include street outreach (a coordinated effort with the orga<\/span>nization CeaseFire which works on the streets to reduce violence), school-based counselors, Safe Passage (a program devoted to providing safe <\/span>passage\/travel for students on their way to school), and other organizing and advocacy effort.<\/span><\/p>\n

La Rabida Childr<\/a>en’s Traum<\/a>a Center<\/a><\/p>\n

The Chicago Child Trauma Center (CCTC) at La Rabida provides services to children who have\u00a0experienced traumatic events, such as medical trauma or exposure to physical abuse, violent crimes, etc. CCT<\/span>C\u00a0focuses its efforts in the South Side of Chicago, where children\u00a0are most frequently exposed to trauma.<\/span><\/p>\n

Youth Safety and Violence Prevention (YSVP)<\/a><\/p>\n

Run through the YMCA of Metro Chicago, YSVP is committed to preventing violence to enable youth to live more\u00a0stable and fulfilling lives. Their commitment revolves around four main pillars of violence prevention: academic readiness, character development, fitness, and healthy livin<\/span>g. YSVP runs a variety of programs, including Urban\u00a0<\/span>Warriors (a curriculum-based program that pairs youth with older mentors) and the Street and School Intervention Program (SIP).<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
