He notices that it has disappeared both as a result of post-Civil Rights movement sentiments, that race isn&#8217;t an &#8220;issue anymore,&#8221; and because of sensitivity regarding race. It&#8217;s difficult to have an open conversation if one side refuses to acknowledge the problem or is unsure of how to go about talking about it.
