As a matter of fact, it runs about 35% of the internet. \u00a0What that means for you, is that if you can&#8217;t figure something out, a simple Google search will yield tons of resources. \u00a0That said, we are here to help you if you need it. \u00a0Just reach out via email (disrael@bowdoin.edu).<\/p>\n<h2>Some of the basics you will need for this project.<\/h2>\n<h4>How to change the TITLE of your site<\/h4>\n<p>DASHBOARD &#8212;&gt; SETTINGS &#8212;&gt; GENERAL<\/p>\n<h4>How to change the HEADER IMAGE of your site<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/customize.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/customize.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"68\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCUSTOMIZE &#8212;&gt; HEADER IMAGES<br \/>\nClick \u201cAdd new image\u201d to upload an image file from your computer. Your theme works best with an image with a header size of <strong>960 \u00d7 250 pixels<\/strong> \u2014 you\u2019ll be able to crop your image once you upload it for a perfect fit &#8211; but it needs to be at least 960 pixels wide and be horizontal (if you want the software to do the cropping)<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Changing the background color (or adding a background image)<\/h4>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/customize.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-64\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/customize.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"68\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nCUSTOMIZE &#8212;&gt; COLORS<br \/>\nCUSTOMIZE &#8212;&gt; BACKGROUND IMAGE<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Editing a PAGE in WordPress is very much like editing a page in Word. You will have lots of formatting options.<\/p>\n<p>This is a <strong>PAGE<\/strong> that you will <strong>EDIT<\/strong> (via links above or below) for your project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/edit-page.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-50\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/edit-page-300x194.png\" alt=\"Edit Page\" width=\"200\" height=\"129\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is also the option to use POSTS in WordPress, but that is not something that you will need.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>Images<\/h4>\n<p>To add an image, when you are in the editing interface you <strong>ADD MEDIA<\/strong> and follow the steps to upload.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/add-media.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-54 size-large\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/add-media-1024x197.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"625\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Before you upload, size your image to reasonably fit on the screen (and no more than 600 pixels tall @ 72dpi)<\/li>\n<li>Name the image something <strong>LOGICAL<\/strong> i.e. <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">big-polar-bear.jpg<\/span> \u00a0 <strong>NOT<\/strong> <span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">IMG_1234.JPG<\/span><\/li>\n<li>Drag or upload<\/li>\n<li>BE SURE TO PUT IN THE &#8220;ALT&#8221; TEXT<\/li>\n<li>Insert it into the page<\/li>\n<li>If you want the image to expand to fill the screen when a user clicks on it, be sure to &#8220;link to media file&#8221;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/government-legal-studies-2680-fall-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/490\/2020\/11\/link-to-media-file.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-76\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/government-legal-studies-2680-fall-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/490\/2020\/11\/link-to-media-file.png\" alt=\"link to media file\" width=\"289\" height=\"233\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>Any time you finish editing a page click the blue <strong>UPDATE<\/strong> button to save<a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/update.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-55\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-1015-spring-2020\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/372\/2020\/04\/update.png\" alt=\"update\" width=\"166\" height=\"98\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>WordPress will save all the revisions of your work, so it is pretty difficult to lose anything, and easy to go back.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>How to remove this item from the top menu<\/h4>\n<p>DASHBOARD &#8212;&gt; APPEARANCE &#8212;&gt; MENUS<br \/>\nClick the little triangle next to WORDPRESS TIPS menu item, then click REMOVE<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_196\" style=\"width: 276px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-2272-fall-2020-template\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/411\/2020\/10\/MENU.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-196\" class=\"wp-image-196 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/courses.bowdoin.edu\/education-2272-fall-2020-template\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/411\/2020\/10\/MENU-266x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"266\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-196\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">click to enlarge<\/p><\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>How to Do a Footnote<\/h4>\n<p>To create a footnote you will go into the <strong>TEXT<\/strong> view and use the simple HTML <a href=\"http:\/\/www.w3schools.com\/tags\/tag_sup.asp\">superscript tag<\/a> on the number, then put the reference at the bottom of the page<br \/>\nExample of how it looks in the <strong>TEXT<\/strong> view:<br \/>\nThis is the text. &lt;sup&gt;1&lt;\/sup&gt;<br \/>\nIn the <strong>VISUAL<\/strong> view, it will look like this:<br \/>\nThis is the text. <sup>1<\/sup><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>This is the footnote at the bottom of the page: (&lt;hr \/&gt; tag created the line above)<br \/>\n1.
