Las escritoras bolivianas representan literatura diversa y profundamente arraigada en la historia de Bolivia. Hay muchas ediciones, pero pocas traducciones fuera del español. Sin embargo, han llamado la atención por sus obras como representaciones de la historia e identidad nacional de Bolivia. Las autoras destacadas son Liliana Colanzi, Rosario Barahona Michel Giovanna Rivero, y Camila Urioste — que es una poeta también, pero hemos optado por enfocarnos en la prosa para esta investigación– quienes han recibido premios como el Premio Internacional de Cuento Cosecha Eñe(Rivero en 2015) y el Premio Nacional de Poesìa (Urioste en 2006). Nuestra investigación encontró que, en conjunto, estas autoras tienen más de 40 ediciones de sus obras, aunque solo una traducción destacada.
Bolivian writers represent a diverse sphere of literature that is deeply rooted in Bolivian history. We found many editions, but few translations beyond Spanish. They have gained attention for their work as representations of Bolivia’s national history and identity. Prominent authors include Liliana Colanzi, Rosario Barahona Michel, Giovanna Rivero, and Camila Urioste — who is also a poet, thoough we’ve chosen to focus on prose for this investigation — who have received awards such as the International Short Story Harvest Eñe Award (Rivero 2015) and the National Poetry Prize (Urioste 2006). Our research found that, collectively, these authors have more than 40 editions of their works, although only one notable translation.
