Aunque hay editoriales en Guatemala, como F & G Editores, y otras regionales como URUK Editores e Índole Editores, todavía circulan muy poco sus ediciones en otros países en Latinoamérica y los Estados Unidos. Estas oportunidades son además restringidas porque tienen un pequeño número de ediciones de cada obra, lo que sugiere limitaciones en la producción y distribución local. Aunque hay poetas guatemaltecas increíbles, como Claudia D. Hernández y Melissa Lozada-Oliva, no hay una representación de novelistas guatemaltecas. Autoras como Denise Phé Funchal nos muestran la necesidad de escuchar las voces guatemaltecas y sus perspectivas sobre temas como la guerra y su legado de violencia, además de asuntos de género y mujeres.
There is a lack of representation of young women authors in Central America, and also specifically in Guatemala. Even though there are publishers in Guatemala, like F & G Editores, and other regional publishers, like URUK Editores and Índole Editores, there is still not enough literature reaching other countries like the United States. These opportunities are limited as they have a small number of editions of each work, suggesting limitations in local production and distribution. Although there are incredible Guatemalan poets, like Claudia D. Hernández and Melissa Lozada-Oliva, there is not a representation of Guatemalan novelists. Authors like Denise Phé Funchal show us the need to listen to Guatemalan voices and their perspectives on issues of gender, war, and more.
