Aunque hay una historia muy rica de autores en Nicaragua, como mucho de Centroamérica, no hay una representación de autoras jóvenes. Autoras como Gioconda Belli y Claribel Alegría han sido líderes en la literatura nicaragüense en el pasado. Hay también una historia de autores masculinos en Nicaragua y Centroamérica, como Rubén Darío y Sergio Ramírez, y una representación de poetas nicaragüenses hoy en día, como Daisy Zamora y Blanca Castellón, son pocas las narradoras entre las generaciones más jóvenes de escritoras. Although there is a rich history of women authors in Nicaragua, like much of Central America, there is not a representation of young women authors. Authors like Gioconda Belli and Claribel Alegria have been leaders in Nicaraguan literature in the past. There is also a history of male authors, like Rubén Darío and Sergio Ramírez, and a representation of poets today (like Daisy Zamora and Blanca Castellón), but there are few narrators in the younger generations of women writers. Most of the books by Central American authors who achieve publishing are published by local publishers in the region: URUK Editores, Índole Editores, and F & G Editores. These opportunities are limited as they have a small number of editions of each work, suggesting limitations in local production and distribution. Nicaraguan authors have had many obstacles, including Nicaragua’s political climate, in navigating their careers in the literary world. With greater support and visibility, the voices of more Nicaraguan women could achieve similar successes as the generations before them.
