Maine_Climate_CouncilResearch Abstract: The Maine Climate Council is a group of 39 people who have been tasked with creating a Climate Action Plan for Maine. There are also six working groups, composed of experts, who proposed draft climate strategies to the Council. As an intern for the Maine Climate Council, Sarah Corkum got a first-hand look at environmental policy development and was able to see how state government functions. She worked on an outreach campaign with the goal of receiving feedback from the public on the draft climate strategies and also ensuring that a wide variety of Maine voices are heard in the plan. Her work this summer will be used in the development of Maine’s Climate Action Plan, which will be proposed to Governor Mills and the State Legislature in December.
