Jimmy Valvano gave one of the most heartfelt speeches in sports history. He says “To me, there are three things we all should do every day. We should do this every day of our lives. Number one is laugh. You should laugh every day. Number two is think. You should spend some time in thought. Number three is you should have your emotions moved to tears, could be happiness or joy. But think about it. If you laugh, you think and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day”. In this course, we have covered a variety of emotions and the implications of them. We have come to understand the everyday embed%5Demotional labor that anyone may  experience, how joy may be over inflated, and how grief can weigh heavily on a person. Jim Valvano embraces all of these emotions at the end of his life, and I think it encompasses one of the many takeaways from this course. Like Riley discovers in the movie Inside Out, it is okay to experience all sorts of different emotions. In the words of Jim Valvano, if “you do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special”.
