For this week, I started to curate the photographs for the exhibition. Specifically, those photographs dealing directly with the gentrification aspect of the project. With these photos I hope to demonstrate how the urban landscape has changed and with them speak about where this change has come from and what the effects it’s had on the neighborhood. Highlighting this idea of urban renewal which may in itself be detrimental, but contributes to a modernizing narrative. The photos I’ve chosen so far (at lower resolution than actual prints):

Those are beautiful photos. Can’t wait to the see the exhibition.

 

This last one in the set will dive into attitudes of residents about gentrification and their reactions to the art scene and presence of tourists/millenials in Wynwood.

I also began to find ways to mount pictures on to a wall. I will either be nailing photos or command stripping them. I reprinted some photos that are being shown on other exhibits.
