PART 1: RESEARCH<\/strong>
\nPost 10 sources of inspiration that you found this semester that deepen your understanding of photography. Post your sources on the page labeled with your name on the \u201cResearch\u201d menu. Feel free to begin posting anytime before the due date. Each source can be an image, text, or link. Use the list of resources provided to guide your research. At least half of your sources should be individual photographs. At least two of your sources should be photo books. At least two of your sources should be scholarly essays or magazine \/ newspaper articles. Label each source with artist\/author, title, date, medium, dimensions (if applicable) accompanied by two sentences describing your interest or questions about it.<\/p>\n

PART 2 OPTION 1: I LOVE IT SO MUCH I HAD TO MAKE ONE MYSELF<\/strong>
\nChoose one image to copy. Do not choose it based on how easy you think it will be to reproduce in your present circumstances. Choose it because it\u2019s really your absolute favorite. The point of this assignment is to work in a makeshift way, showing your desire to replicate a picture you love, despite the current limitations. If it\u2019s on a tropical island, or at a party, how can you approximate those inaccessible subjects? Shoot at least 50 jpegs and upload a selection of 10 to the blog with a statement.<\/p>\n

THE GETTY<\/strong> MUSEUM HAS INVITED PEOPLE TO DO THIS SAME THING, RECREATE AN ART MASTERPIECE and upload it to Instagram with the following hashtag, or facebook, or send message to the Getty…<\/p>\n

If you use Twitter or Instagram, share your creation with the world there using the hashtags\u00a0#betweenartandquarantine<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0#tussenkunstenquarataine<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

If you use Facebook instead, you can post it to your feed or send it to us directly:\u00a0go to the Getty page<\/a>\u00a0and click \u201cSend Message,\u201d then tell us about it in words and attach the photos.<\/p>\n

PART<\/strong> 2 <\/strong><\/em>OPTION 2: SLOW SEEING REVISITED<\/strong>
\n<\/strong><\/em>Reread Rebecca Solnit\u2019s <\/span>Slow Seeing<\/em> essay. Photograph the same thing at many different times. Watch the light coming in the window, the shadows cast within a room; the TV, computer, or lights on and off; the view from the window changing; yourself or housemates in the same place at different times. How do your surroundings shift subtly over time?\u00a0 <\/span>Shoot at least 50 jpegs. Post a selection of 10 jpegs on blog with one paragraph statement.

\nPART 3: CRITIQUE GROUP\u00a0<\/strong>
\nIf you attend the weekly Zoom critique meeting, then that fulfills your critique participation component.\u00a0 If you are unable to attend the critique meeting that week, post 100-150 word comments on FOUR other students’ work who also did not attend the critique.\u00a0 I will email the class to let you know who those people are each week.
