GFA Conversation on AI and Higher Education, Friday, Jan 16, 10-11:30am

GFA is inviting interested faculty—and especially those with little experience with AI or who do not use AI—to join us for an informal conversation on the topic on January 16, 10-11:30 in Beam Classroom in the VAC.

This is not a forum, but a discussion group among peers that will help GFA to understand faculty needs and potentially impacted areas of governance.   To stimulate the discussion, we will be reflecting on several brief essays on the topic of “How AI is Changing Higher Education” that were published in the Chronicle of Higher Education last month: https://www.chronicle.com/article/how-ai-is-changing-higher-education. You can access the articles through the Bowdoin Library catalog (https://bowdoin.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/permalink/01CBB_BOWC/b484ai/alma991003033869708043) or set up your own account for regular access to the Chronicle (https://library.bowdoin.edu/research/digital-access-to-current-news.shtml).

Please express your interest in attending by using this form so that we can get a sense of numbers:  RSVP for GFA Faculty Conversation on AI and Higher Education (requires Bowdoin login)

GFA is prioritizing teaching faculty for this conversation, including lecturers and lab instructors. We will share key takeaways as appropriate to our colleagues in Academic Affairs, the Library, Academic Technology & Consulting, IT, and the Hastings Initiative.   Please feel free to bring your own snacks and/or brown bag lunches since GFA does not have a budget and cannot provide food or beverages.

Sincerely,Crystal Hall on behalf of GFA:Javier Cikota, Jamella Gow, Sarah Harmon, Aaron Kitch, Carrie Scanga
