In this website, 3 vignettes with videos and explanations are provided to show what inclusive teaching can look like in a social science lecture course, STEM lab course, and a first year seminar.
Inclusive teaching is intentional instruction that focuses on designing welcoming and equitable learning for diverse learners. When a learning environment is inclusive, students feel as if they matter and that the courses were built with them in mind.
This project visualizes several inclusive teaching practices of instructors at the post-secondary level. The inclusivity strategies featured are based off of actual classroom observations of instructors who implement inclusive teaching approaches, in addition to research supporting inclusion. The vignettes are not designed to be exhaustive of all inclusive teaching strategies; the goal is to demonstrate several examples that are observable in classroom settings. To visualize the inclusive practices, trained actors play the roles of professors.
