Tony Diaz is a Mexican-American writer and activist from Houston, Texas. He is the founder of Nuestra Palabra and works diligently with a wide array of organizations to ensure the voices of Latinos/as are elevated in schools and beyond. In March 2012 he led a pilgrimage to Arizona that brought books into the stateTwitterBird that had previously been banned from schools, such as, Pedagogy of the Oppressed by Paulo Freire and Rethinking Columbus: The Next 500 Years by Bill Bigelow.12

Curits Acosta (@CurtisAcostaLLP)

Curtis Acosta is an educator and advocate for Latino/a students in Arizona. He is at the forefront of the movement to lift the Ethnic Studies ban AZ and was featured in the film Precious Knowledge for the work he was doing with his students. He is also founder of the Latino Learning Partnership, an organizations that trains teachers to best reach and educate Latino/a students.

Three Sonorans is a source for news that covers activism and grassroots work surrounding Latino/a issues in Arizona. They closely follow the movement to remove the Ethnic Studies ban in Arizona. In addition to linking to helpful articles and YouTube videos, they also provide commentary and analysis on the issues.

Arizona Ethnic Studies Network 

AZ Ethnic Studies Network is a group made up of teachers and other education stakeholders who believe the Ethnic Studies ban is an affront to equity and creates more divisiveness, rather than fostering inclusion. The Networks posts news updates and information about upcoming events so people who are want to be involved in the movement can participate. Individuals who feel passionately about the issue or having something to share with the network can submit an article to the Network for publication.

NACCS is a national organization committed to the promotion of Chicano/a studies at all levels of education. The group holds a yearly conferences where they bring together researchers, practitioners, students, and other stakeholder to discuss how Chicano/a studies can be elevated.

NAES is a national association that bring together researches and activists who are interested in the field of ethnic studies. The group hosts conferences, publishes articles, and serves as a forum for interdisciplinary discussion on the importance of ethnic studies at all levels of education and society.

University of Colorado Boulder Ethnic Studies 18(@EthnStudies_UCB)

The Ethnic Studies program at UCB works to elevate the importance of ethnic and cultural studies at both the collegiate and secondary levels, as well as community education initiatives. Their twitter account stays up to date on current news and advertises events where members of the college and broader community can come an engage in dialogue around racial and ethnic differences.
