National Organizations


National Asian Pacific American Women’s Forum (NAPAWF): 

nawNAPAWF is a multi-issue, community-organizing, policy advocacy organization for AAPI women and girls. It is a national organization consisting of 13 chapters in nine different states.24 Their Facebook and Twitter pages both contain many posts about different campaigns and rallies, and most photos from these events seem to involve a lot of youth organizing, similar to the grassroots organizations.25      Facebook | Twitter


South Asian Americans Leading Together (SAALT):

saltSAALT is a national organization that aims to elevate the voices and perspectives of South Asian individuals and organizations through public policy analysis and advocacy, building partnerships with South Asian organizations and allies, and mobilizing communities to take action. Their Twitter page has many posts regarding public policies concerning South Asians, as well as relevant current events about other racial and ethnic groups.26 Their Facebook page seems to have more posts about events within the organization, such as fundraising and leadership changes.27          Facebook | Twitter


Asian American Legal Defense and Education Fund (AALDEF):

Screen Shot 2014-12-18 at 5.34.35 PMAALDEF is a national organization that promotes and protects the civil rights of Asian Americans by combining litigation, advocacy, education, and organizing. They are an excellent resource for grassroots organizations, as they are able to provide legal resources for them and facilitate their organizing efforts.28 Their Facebook and Twitter pages have many posts about current events regarding Asian Americans, ranging from Asian American baseball players in the MLB, to ongoing litigations.29          Facebook | Twitter


Revolutionizing Asian American Immigrant Stories on the East Coast (RAISE):

raiseRAISE is an undocumented youth-led group on the East Coast organizing to create safe spaces for undocumented Asian American immigrants and advocate for immigration rights and policy reform. They have recently organized marches and worked with other grassroots organizations to raise awareness about passing the Dream Act in New York. Their Twitter contains many tweets to officials such as Governor Cuomo and Senator Schumer (NY), as well as photos and other event updates.30          Twitter


National Korean American Service and Education Consortium (NAKASEC):

nakaNAKASEC is an organization that focuses on civil and immigrant rights issues, and promotes the participation of Korean Americans to build a national movement for social change. Their tweets and retweets mainly concern current immigration policy reforms, and shout outs to government officials throughout the nation.31 They are less active on the Facebook page, and post primarily articles and ongoing events.32          Facebook | Twitter
