Grassroots Organizing

The demand and necessity for grassroots organizations that address the lack of sports education in schools has only been increasing. With this demand, comes more and more programs that want to help.

A huge problem they face is the need for equipment. In organizations that focus on math, for example, most of what is necessary can be fulfilled with a computer and a teacher. With sports, each sport requires different equipment, that can also break or become damaged at any point. Another obstacle facing these organizations is the reputation of sports. In a low-income community, parents may find it difficult to spend the time and energy to put their child in an after school program that focuses on sports. A lot of these programs have started recently, in the past 20 years, by parents who have the time and energy to create an organization that may benefit their child.
