Horton Heard a Who

(And Should Have Employed Liberation Education to Empower the Community)

Whoville once stood on a small speck of dust

And its world was disrupted with one large wind gust.

Then came in Horton, saving the day,

But not in the long run or organizer way.

It was nice Horton valiantly protected each Who

But he should have taken Ed 2272.

His actions caused dependence, hierarchy, and gloom.

And Seuss left us this elephant in the classroom.

So it seems in the end that our friend got it wrong.

Though he was big, a good listener, and strong,

The Whos were not taught to protect their own village

From Wickersham Brothers and kangaroo pillage.

Without Baker and Myles and Paulo Friere,

Their odds of survival were really quite scary.

With Horton’s protection, the Whos were quite stuck

And could be left thinking oh my, what the ****

He worked very hard with purest intention,

But that raises a question important to mention.

Oh what should have happened to change the fate of their nation?
