Research Abstract: This past summer, I received a Maine Community Fellowship through the McKeen Center to intern at the Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project (ILAP) in Portland. ILAP works primarily with low-income refugees and asylees, and they provide a range of services, from self help manuals to full representation. I worked on ILAP’s forms assist program, and I helped multiple clients complete and submit green card and citizenship applications. I also created pro se guides for the work permit and change of address forms, and I updated and compiled referral lists that ILAP clients can use to learn about a variety of services in Maine.
