What kinds of data will you collect (e.g. documents, newspaper articles, photos/videos/visual data, direct observation)? How will you collect your data (e.g. library research, archival research, survey, field research)? How will your data answer your project’s questions?
Deadline: March 29th Friday 5 pm
I suspect that a thorough exploration of academic pieces and documents via the various resources offered by the Bowdoin library will yield me with ample information to write an interesting, multi-faceted paper. However, as US militarization is deeply interconnected with public sentiment, I will seek to incorporate newspaper articles as well, specifically pieces written in the aftermath of 9/11 and the build-up of the war on terror. Thus far, I haven’t yet looked for these, as I feel I need to gather a significant amount of base academic material first and then synthesize it down to develop a concise thesis to move forward with. Once I’ve achieved that, I believe that supporting material from newspapers will encourage a certain level of balance within my project. This combination of academic research from scholarly articles and newspaper materials that were consumed by the public will work together to answer my project’s questions, which themselves are still in the early stages of development.
