Project Summary

  • Project Summary: In no more than 200 words, provide a brief description of your project, including the key questions your project attempts to answer and a brief discussion of how you intend to answer those questions.
  • Deadline: March 1st Friday, 11:59 pm

  • I plan on doing a podcast about the neoliberalization of women’s reproductive bodies. I’ll be using the book I will be leading class discussion on and other readings (maybe even talk more with ProfessoRileyey) to answer 3 key questions: What is the meaning of choice in this context? What is(are) the “right choice(s)” and how is this broadcasted? How does the neoliberal system work in conjunction with and in opposition to women?

Comments:

This is a great topic, Gardenia. However, you will need to think more about the relationship between neoliberalism and reproduction. Which aspects of neoliberalism are you planning to focus on? Only the issue of “individual choice”? (which would be fine)

Are you also planning on focusing only on the US? (which would also be fine). Do you anticipate that class and race will be important categories for your project?

And you are right. It is a great idea to talk to Prof. Riley about this topic. In the meantime, I can recommend you a couple of sources:

I am pretty sure you already know the last two books. I have not read the second book myself yet but I heard that it is a good book. And the first book is amazing.

I look forward to reading and listening to your final project.
