- Hurricane Katrina set off one of the most unnatural disasters in US history with New Orleans being left as a warzone. In this podcast I will analyze how Hurricane Katrina forced the government to define enemies in terms of race and class in order to implement a neoliberal carceral security state. I will do so by examining the racial makeup of New Orleans post/prior Hurricane, critique the media outlets language and response to the hurricane, and highlight how defining enemies in terms of class disadvantaged low-income Black homeowners to being the most in need after the hurricane.

This is a good abstract, Gaby. You have a clear research question and a good research plan. The very last part of your last sentence (and highlight…) is not clear though. Are you making a connection between racialization and class? or something else?
