This paper aims to explore neoliberal trends in the coverage of issues surrounding reproductive health. The market organization of reproductive health services has effectively shut out large sectors of the country’s population—particularly people who identify as women—from being able to access the care and information that they need to live healthful and informed lives. My research delves into the stratified consequences of this system and the politically charged and highly gendered media representation that dominates popular media. Through the incorporation or photographs of college-aged women, I unite theory, news, and lived experiences in an attempt to illuminate the tangible impact of reproductive justice in the neoliberal context.

Thanks for this abstract, Meghan. This is an interesting research. However, I was under the impression that you were going to focus on the notion of “choice” in your paper. Have you changed your mind? If so, that would be fine. But your new focus is a bit vague. You are saying “the market organization of reproductive health services has effectively shut out large sectors of the country’s population—particularly people who identify as women—from being able to access the care and information that they need to live healthful and informed lives.” What do you exactly mean here? Women do not have access to reproductive health services at all? Or not proper/good reproductive health services?
Also, you are going to do a photo essay, right? if so, we should talk about it.
