What is a miracle? The 1973-1990 Pinochet dictatorship in Chile implemented a series of neoliberal economic reforms referred to as the “Chilean miracle.” In this podcast I will examine the policies that were created under the regime; what were they, why were they created, and what were the repercussions. I will work to understand if the ‘Chilean Miracle’ was truly miraculous in turning around the Chilean economy. Ultimately, I argue that certain economic metrics indicate that the Chilean miracle was considered “good” for the economy, but in reality these policies deepened preexisting social inequalities and ultimately resulted in a wider gap between the wealthy and the poor, a lower standard of living, and widespread unemployment.

This is very good. Sydney. It is clear, well-written, and concise. If I remember correctly, you were planning to talk about the term “miracle” as well, right? or more like you will unpack the motion of “Chilean Miracle” by reflecting on the word “miracle.”
