Lecture: “Japanese Prints Renewed: The Agents and Tangents of Sōsaku-Hanga.” Kendall Brown, Professor of Asian Art History, California State University at Long Beach
This lecture explores the post-war flourishing of the Sōsaku-Hanga (Creative Print) movement in Japan through its American patrons and scholars, its presentation of a commercially and culturally viable face of Japan, and its emphasis on the materiality of woodblock prints.
