Map

This map invites scholars, students, and interested Bowdoin Students and/or the public to engage in an interactive learning experience. Art historian and Professor Pamela Fletcher’s virtual 19th Century London Map serves as our primary model for this portion of the project. This NYC  map is loaded with a set of clickable pins that indicate gallery locations. Pins are color coded by gallery name. When you click on a pin, a representative image of the gallery and a link will appear.  Clicking on the link will redirect you to our website page containing more information about that gallery in the form of a gallery biography.  In addition to providing the user with direct information about the history of galleries, we hope this map visually demonstrates the New York gallery system changes over time; our map shows the sequential movement of galleries within the city over time.
