| AAC&U’s Intentional Assignment Design for Learning and Assessment online workshop on November 6 from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. ET will help you bring teaching, learning, and assessment together through a replicable process for assignment design and redesign. The workshop will use AAC&U’s VALUE (Valid Assessment of Learning in Undergraduate Education) rubrics—faculty-developed frameworks that clarify expectations for essential learning outcomes and enable the evaluation of authentic student work—as design tools. You’ll revise assignments to clarify expectations, better align assignments with learning outcomes, and create meaningful opportunities for students to demonstrate their learning. You’ll also explore how you can use generative AI to support brainstorming and revision while keeping your expertise and judgment at the center. You’ll leave with a practical process—grounded in Fink’s Integrated Course Design and backward design—for creating assignments that actually measure what students learn and that guide your teaching toward it. By aligning learning outcomes, instruction, and assessment, you’ll give students the best opportunity to demonstrate their learning. No prior experience with VALUE rubrics is required. |
| The registration fee is $299 for AAC&U members and $450 for nonmembers. |
