Invitation to join the Uprooting Perfectionism for Inclusion and Belonging Lunch Workshop

The Office of Inclusion and Diversity’s Associate of Institutional Inclusion and Diversity Programs, Danny Chin ’12 would like to invite you to a spring program “Uprooting Perfectionism for Inclusion and Belonging” lunch workshops.

Bowdoin is a fast-paced place that values high achievement, but what does it look like to slow down? To value the process? These cohort experiences will discuss “perfectionist culture” at Bowdoin and our time together will focus on unlearning personal behaviors and creating external processes that can foster community and belonging.

After attending these sessions, participants in this program will be able to

  • Draft and implement norms to promote equitable, inclusive teams
  • Facilitate reflective activities to notice “perfectionism” and its challenges
  • Identify detours and barriers to progress and draw on practiced techniques to address them
  • Develop an action plan to continue learning with their teams

We will read a selection of texts, including sections of The Identity Conscious Educator by Liza Talusan, complete writing reflections, engage in discussions, and practice with authentic scenarios. With a practitioner model in mind, this program will help you bring back materials and activities to your teams, offices, or departments.

The program will be offered in-person on campus on Mondays 1/29, 2/26, 3/25 and 4/29 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. in Hutchinson in Thorne, lunch will be through the line so please arrive promptly.

See the CampusGroups link for more information and to sign up for the program https://cglink.me/2dK/r1934821
