January Workshop – Preparing or Reviewing your Spring Course Content in Canvas with Accessibility in Mind

Take this opportunity to review your existing Canvas course for accessibility before the semester starts! You already use Canvas as a central and digital location for course information and materials, so now let’s apply some foundational accessibility principles with the goal of removing barriers at the start that your students may be experiencing.

This workshop will offer a short introduction to seven principles of digital accessibility and their impact. This includes alternative text, headings, links, color contrast, tables, lists, video and audio. Participants will then be given the time to apply these principles to existing or future content (e.g. syllabus, Canvas pages) in their course. Making your course more accessible is something to keep working towards and may not happen all in this session.
