Grassroots Organizing

There are a number of grassroots organizations across the nation that have taken the initiative to provide or advocate for quality early childhood intervention strategies where the state has failed to do so. These organizations are working to address the issue of early childhood education from a number of angles that highlight the intersectional nature of the issue. As such, each grassroots organization approaches early childhood education from a unique angle that recognizes the needs of that particular community. This community-specific approach is apparent in the wide variety of strategies that the organizations adopt. For example, some organizations that cater to female demographics focus more on maternity leave, while others that cater to low-income workers as a whole focus on issues of fair pay in addition to quality early childhood education. While there certainly remains a significant amount of work to be done in advancing early childhood education, I hope that the grassroots organizations highlighted on the next page provide a glimpse into the incredible work that is already being done on this issue.
