Episode 2: Steve Perkins

Steve Perkins has a background in Fine Art as a professional artist, with a BFA from Alfred University and an MFA from SUNY Albany. He started at Bowdoin as a part-time casual museum security officer in 2009, working his way up to a full-time position and eventually becoming the Museum Security Supervisor. In 2018 Steve accepted a position as the Security and Facilities Manager at the Davis Museum at Wellesley College. In 2020, he moved on to the Hood Museum of Art at Dartmouth College, as the Security and Buildings Manager. In 2022, Steve came back to Bowdoin as the Assistant Director of Cultural Property Security. His responsibilities include managing security operations and staff at the Museum of Art, the Peary-MacMillan Arctic Museum, Special Collections and Archives and offsite cultural property storage. Steve works closely with the various staff of the college’s cultural institutions as well as the Department of Safety & Security in his capacity as an Assistant Director.
