Format and Outline

  • Product
    • Describe the form you hope your project will assume (i.e. paper, film, podcast) and a justification for why your selection provides the best approach to present your findings.

We are planning to do option two–the 12-15 minute performative project. With this form, we hope to put together a video essay to tell an audience about our research on Tinder and findings. We think this form provides the best approach to present our findings because we plan to conduct interviews and think it will be deeply impactful to include clips from these interviews. This form situates the audience in the Bowdoin context, so they can better understand the nuances of this community and how it manifests on Tinder’s platform.

  • Changes
    • Provide a description of any changes in the product of your project, with a brief explanation for your decision.

Dalton and I decided that to change the product of our project to a podcast. We decided to do a podcast because we only took audio recordings of our interviews. We decided against taking video recordings of our interviews because then interviews would lose anonymity, which could make them uncomfortable and possibly withhold information. In our podcast, we’ll discuss findings from relevant literature and also read insightful quotes from the interviews.
