- Between weeks 8 and 14, each student should provide a weekly reflection (500 words) on the data you have collected to date.
- What data did you collect?
- What is your initial impression of the data?
- How have the data you have collected this week changed/progressed your thinking about your research project?
- What challenges did you encounter while collecting the data?
- What are your next steps?
This week, I intended to start conducting interviews. Unfortunately, the friends I was planning to interview got COVID. I have 3 people who are willing to be interviewed for this project, and I hope to conduct these interviews next week (week 11). They are all seniors. I think it’s insightful to interview seniors because they have had 4 years of experiences on Bowdoin’s campus. But I’m wondering if Dalton and I should make an effort to interview underclassmen and juniors. Maybe different class years have different experiences on Tinder?
I also read three articles and wrote annotated bibliography entires for each: ““Tindersluts” and “Tinderellas”: Examining the Digital Affordances Shaping the (Hetero)Sexual Scripts of Young Womxn on Tinder,” “Dating Application Use and Sexual Risk Behavior Among Young Adults,” and “Left, right, Black, and White: how White college students talk about their inter- and intra- racial swiping preferences on Tinder.”
The next steps for next week are to conduct interviews and continue reading literature on the topic.
