Photos of My Mother-Frances

These are all photos of my mother. Oddly, I felt somewhat uncomfortable taking photos of her with a goal. So much more often when I take photos of her they are spontaneous and don’t feel as forced in a way. That is why so many of the photos are of objects, because for me, it felt more natural to see and feel my mother in them, then to try to force a photo of her that did the same.

    Hi Frances!
I liked how some of the photos you uploaded of your mother, are things I am assuming represent her. I am curious about what some of those items mean and how they are related to your mom. I think the stylistic formation of some of the photos was fascinating. Specifically, one of a family photo in the picture frame that is in the distance with other objects in the forefront and the center looks cool. I think it makes the photo look more appealing, and I would be interested in finding out why you chose to compose the picture like that. Lastly, including other subjects in the photos emphasizes the point that as a mother, that is most likely not their only role.

Hey Frances! I like your decision to try to make your photos of your mother feel more natural and represent her through objects. I think the simple aspect of your photos say something beautiful about your mother. I think the composition in your pictures is interesting to see and when you decide to have a close up on the newspaper. I like the way you set up the objects in your photo as well, I think the scattered nature of them makes the photo feel less forced or directed as you said and make it seem like you came across those object how they were. I think the area you chose to photograph you mother helps the photo feel more natural, the way she looks away from the camera then towards it.
