Technological Marbles
Technology is like playing marbles, you can either win or lose. For my project I spent three days for around three hours each in the Pub observing how people interacted with each other and how technology affected those interactions. After observing and counting, I divided these interactions into three groups, and assigned them a concentration of ink and water:
- People in groups using their phones/computers: Pure ink
- People alone using their phone/computers: ¾ ink + ¼ water.
- People not using technology and interacting with each other: ½ ink + ½ water
Once I counted the total of each group I dipped a marble inside the concentration of ink and water, and proceeded to put all of the marbles in the middle of a sheet of watercolor paper, hit them and observed the traces they left.
