Episode 5: José Ribas

José Ribas is the Head Preparatory and Museum Technician for the Bowdoin College Museum of Art for 42 years now. A Bowdoin alum, class of 1976, his position involves using his knowledge and experience in handling all works of art in the collection to make the exhibitions a reality. José is responsible for the proper display, construction, installation, lighting, and maintenance of exhibitions. He also assists the Mellon fellow to retrieve and display works of art needed for classroom purposes. José’s duties extend to the off-site storage of pedestals, vitrines, display mounts, boxes, and past and current publications.
