Blog It!!

In this new age of technology, communication has become a lot easier over the years. One of the ways that this is helpful, especially in the field of education is the spread of knowledge and the ability for teachers to connect via long distances. As I was plowing through tons of grassroots organizations I fell into the tap of the blog. I call this the trap of the blog because one blog can transport you to another and another and another and if your not careful you will have at least 50 blog pages open and 6 hours would have passed by.

However, although this can become very distracting and frustrating, it can also lead to some great and new ideas in academia. Below are a list of blogs, as well as descriptions of what the  blogs offer and the most interesting and fascinating things I have discovered from scrolling through them.

  • Miss, Hey Miss!

MHMheader - Blog3

This blog highlights the adventures of a first year teacher and her journey through teaching a special education class. Her blog is interesting because along with providing her own story and advice, she offers to sell her techniques and classroom resources that she found were effective to other teachers.

  • Speech Universe

For many students who fall on the spectrum of autism, speech, whether its talking about emotions or having problems speaking in general, seems to be highlighted in one way or another. This blog offers different ways that speech can be used with other things such as pictures, dance, songs, etc to help build those tools necessary in order for students to be able to articulate themselves, which may be very challenging for them.

Because Autism is a spectrum, that means a child can have multiple cognitive/social disabilities at the same time. This blog provides solutions and methods to best teach students who have multiple special needs.

  • Special teacher for special kids

Header

I found this blog one of the most interesting because unlike many other blogs,  it was more focused on providing the tools for teachers free, instead of charging teachers to buy products and using them within their classroom. Admittedly, it does take some time to sought through the information and understand how her blog operates, but once you get a hang of her blogging style, her blog becomes very accessible and helpful.
