Raise Your Hand for Illinois Public Education

Raise Your Hand for Illinois Public Education (RYH) is a coalition of public school parents and concerned citizens who seek to advocate for public education by educating, networking, and taking local action to protect public schools in Chicago and Illinois more broadly. RYH opposes charter schools.

 

Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education logo

Northeast Indiana Friends of Public Education (NEIFPE) is a grassroots group of teachers, retired teachers, and other concerned citizens which opposes for-profit charter schools. NEIFPE meets with lawmakers, attends relevant hearings, does movie screenings, holds panels, and more.

 

Texas Kids Cant Wait logoTexas Kids Can’t Wait is a non-partisan advocacy group in Texas that seeks to educate parents about issues in education policy. Their platform includes opposing attempts to privatize public education such as charter schools. Their primary methods include educational blogs and social media campaigns that seek to inform Texas citizens about the threats that charter schools pose to public education.

Step Up Louisiana logoStep Up Louisiana is a multi-generational, multiracial grassroots organization that works toward economic and educational justice with the ultimate mission of dismantling systematic racism. One of their goals is to prevent the five remaining community schools in New Orleans from becoming charters. They also hope to create a “Parents Union” that can collaborate with organized teachers to provide local parents with a voice through political action.
