I plan on mostly using peer-reviewed journals and books for sources in my project. I will divide my searches using key terms related to the different areas I will be focusing on regarding the Salvadorean and Salvadorean American experience in the United States. Some areas that I will try to find information on are the Salvadorean Civil War, Salvadorean immigration, and assimilation. Also, looking at studies related to Salvadorean identity and place-making will be helpful. I can use Twitter to explore more about the experience of Salvadorean American writers in journalism to make a connection to the importance of different perspectives in the “sociological imagination.” Another route that I can take is interviewing my family about their experiences in El Salvador and the adjustments they had to make when migrating to the United States.
Update: In addition to the aforementioned data, I decided to include podcasts and newspaper articles to my data search since it incorporates more Salvadoran and Salvadoran stories and interviews that can get lost in academic journals.
