Episode 7: Sean Kramer

Sean Kramer joined the Bowdoin College Museum of Art as the Andrew W. Mellon Postdoctoral Curatorial Fellow in August 2022. Before that, he completed his PhD in History of Art at the University of Michigan. He has a BA and MA from The University of Kansas. Sean has worked in museums since his undergraduate years and has held curatorial, public programming, and education positions at the University of Michigan Museum of Art (UMMA), the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA), and the Spencer Museum of Art (SMA). At UMMA, he curated the exhibition Oh, honey… A queer reading of UMMA’s collection and helped create the video series The Sex Ed Class You Never Had. While at the BCMA, he is developing two exhibitions: “The Book of Two Hemispheres:” Uncle Tom’s Cabin in the United States and Europe(opening January 2024) and Irreplaceable You: Personhood and Dignity in Contemporary Art (opening January 2025).
